JHM SMALL GROUP LEADER FAQ'S
WHAT ARE JUNIOR HIGH SMALL GROUPS?
Junior High Ministry (JHM) Small Groups are grade & gender specific groups made up of 10-12 junior highers & 2 adult leaders that meet weekly to talk about faith, have fun, and fellowship together.
WHO ARE THE SMALL GROUP LEADERS?
Leaders range from seniors in high school to actual seniors :) The only qualifications are loving Jesus and having a heart for young people - we will equip you with the rest! Leaders receive comprehensive training, are equipped with all the curriculum and materials needed to lead their group with their co-leader throughout the year, and are matched with a JHM Small Groups Coach, who will provide coaching, support, prayer, and encouragement all year.
WHAT IS THE COMMITMENT?
JHM Small Group leaders commit to leading their group from mid-September 2026 through mid-May 2027. They need to be able to commit to leading weekly on either Tuesday or Wednesday nights, from 7:00 - 8:30pm (missing occasionally is ok, as long as it's not more that 5-6 meetings throughout the course of the year).
Additionally, they will need to attend the mandatory leader trainings and JHM Small Group Events on the following dates:
HOW DO I SIGN UP TO BE A JHM SMALL GROUP LEADER?
The first step is to fill out a JHM Leader Application by clicking here! Once we've processed your application, followed up with your references, and received your background check results, we will schedule and in-person interview to get to know you more and evaluate your fit in this role. From there, we will prayerfully pair you up with a co-leader and the group you will be leading together this year!

- JHM Small Group Leader Training #2: Tuesday, 9/8 from 6:00 - 8:30pm at the Refinery Student Building (dinner provided)
- JHM Small Groups Meet & Greet: Sunday, 9/13 from 5:30 - 7:00pm at the Refinery Student Building
- JHM Team Night: Tuesday, 1/5 or Wednesday, 1/6 (two options to attend) from 6:30 - 8:30pm at the Refinery Student Building (dinner provided)
- JHM Small Groups Retreat: 1/29 & 1/30 at the Refinery Student Building (not an overnight event)
