WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL
WEEK FIVE
What's the best gift you've ever been given?
This week in JHM we talked about an important part of the Gospel - that we are offered both a gift and a choice. So far, we've learned about how we were created to exist forever in relationship with God, but humanity's sinful nature keeps us separated from Him. To save the world and make things right, God sent His son, Jesus, to die for us and pay the price of our sins. Now we come to a critical part of the Gospel - Jesus' actions mean that we are offered the gift of a life with Jesus, but it comes down our choice of whether or not to accept it.
Today we'll take a few minutes to reflect on the idea of gift and choice.

PREPARE YOUR HEART:
Start by focusing your mind on Jesus. Find a quiet, comfortable place where you can be free from distraction. Take a few deep breaths and ask Jesus to open your mind and heart to what He has for you today.
READ:
Read these three passages:
1 John 1:9; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 John 5:11-12
REFLECT:
Picture the gift that Jesus is offering us as an actual physical present that you can open. If you were to open this gift, what would be inside?
Have you opened this gift? How has your life been different since?
A part of this gift means that all our sins - everything we've done wrong or will ever do wrong - has been forgiven. Sometimes we can be hard on ourselves when we make mistakes. When you sin, how do you think Jesus sees you?
PRAY:
Finish your time by focusing back on Jesus. Spend a couple minutes talking with Him – what’s been great? What’s been tough? What are you grateful for?
