WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL
WEEK ONE
What comes to mind when you think of the word “Gospel”? Maybe you think of Gospel music, church, or the Bible. We use that word frequently, but don’t always stop to explain what it means. This past weekend in JHM, we learned a few things about what the Gospel is. Use the guide below to reflect on truths from this weekend and spend a little bit of time with Jesus today.
PREPARE YOUR HEART:
Start by focusing your mind on Jesus. Find a quiet, comfortable place where you can be free from distraction. Take a few deep breaths and ask Jesus to open your mind and heart to what He has for you today.
READ:
Read these three passages:
Romans 1:16, 6:23, John 3:16
REFLECT:
The good news that Paul is talking about in Romans 1:16 is the Gospel. What is this news, and why is it good?
If you were going to tell someone about this good news in your owns words, what would you say?
Accepting the Gospel as truth changes us because following Jesus changes us. When you think about your life before you knew Jesus / heard the Gospel, do you feel like your life looks different now
PRAY:
Finish your time by focusing back on Jesus. Spend a couple minutes talking with Him – what’s been great? What’s been tough? What are you grateful for?
